ABOUT US
Mark Stewart Cassidy is “the” Scotch Specialist at The Whisky Shop / William Glen & Sons, located in downtown San Francisco, Union Square - where he has assisted Scotch whisky enthusiasts since February 2002.
Mark is from Dunblane, Scotland. He is a graduate of the University of Glasgow, is a Scottish Historian and well knows Scotland’s Whisky Trail! Mark is clearly defined by his insatiable thirst of: history, the timeline of man, music, art and, yes … single malt Scotch whisky!
Mark is in demand throughout the year at private social events and our monthly educational single malt Scotch whisky tastings - open to the public. He also provides orations on the life, times and poetry of Robert Burns at the many Burns’ Suppers held in the Greater Bay Area. Additionally, he performs “parlour readings” on, amongst many other topics, the historic ties between Scotland and San Francisco.
A formidable researcher and creative writer, Mark has a specialty niche writing introductions to books, art shows, web sites and magazines for artists worldwide. He's been published in Baseline Typographics Magazine - Spring 2010 / Issue 58 - in a piece titled “Stone Cairns”. He’s also published in Hasselblad Magazine, in four languages worldwide, and recently was featured in the Bay Area section of the NY Times when he conducted a Scotch whisky tasting at Omnivore Books in San Francisco.
As Robert Burns said …”a man’s a man for all that”!

Victoria Karno is the Booking / Staffing Coordinator and Events Planner and Caterer for Scotch Whisky Events. Victoria will be your contact from your initial inquiry, through the reservation process, to the day attending the educational tasting or private event. Victoria brings to Scotch Whisky Events a monumental background in event production and catering, having produced events for 5 to 5,000 guests. Victoria ensures that every event need is accommodated for and strives to exceed your expectations. One of her specialities is in the pairing of Scotch whisky to the food presented at your event and at our monthly tastings. Please call on her to assist you!
Victoria coordinates the scheduling of our professional wait staff and personally trains each one. Assistants at a Scotch whisky tasting play a critical and exacting role. They (besides providing normal wait staff services) are responsible for timing the "breathing of the whisky" and presenting the whisky at just the right moment - which is critical to the tasting experience.
